Chiropractic care benefits pregnant women by decreasing neck and back pain, decreasing overall discomfort during gestation, decreased morning sickness and heartburn, and an improved quality during labor and delivery.
What is the Webster technique?
The Webster Technique is practiced by our experienced chiropractors when baby is breeched. This technique is defined as a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment to mom that reduces interference to the nerve system and facilitates balance in the pelvic and abdominal muscles and ligaments. This in turn reduces constraint to the mom’s uterus allowing the baby to get into the best possible position for birth. It does not involve aggressive, manual turning of the fetus. Webster is a non-invasive technique that allows baby freedom to move when there is no physiological barrier.
Can a chiropractic adjustment turn a breech baby?
Chiropractors do not perform any obstetrical services; however, the Webster's technique allows baby the best opportunity to be positioned for a healthy birth.
Can I get a massage when I’m pregnant?
Massage is wonderful way to enhance prenatal care. Massage enhances immune system function by promoting proper lymphatic circulation. It also improves circulation of blood and reduces blood pressure. Furthermore, since hormonal changes alter sleep patterns during pregnancy, massage can be beneficial in promoting better sleep. Many studies indicate that the increased levels of oxytocin and cortisol during late pregnancy may play a role in forgetfulness that is often experienced. Massage has been proven to reduce mental and physical fatigue, and improve concentration.
